Foundation

Foundation is the No. 1 product where quality matters, so it is imperative invest in a good foundation. Many Asian women have an olive skin tone, so using a foundation with an olive or yellow undertone is important. Never use foundations with pink undertones.

Brows

Nicely shaped eyebrows can add sophistication to your look. Powder brow-liner creates a soft and natural look. Choose the same color as the darkest tones in your hair color. Brow powder should be applied with a small, stiff angled brush; first, lay the base, then blend into the brow from the baseline. Comb through to remove any excess, and add a brow wax or gel to tame unruliness.

Eyes

Many Asian women have what are called "hooded" eyes—eyes whose creases directly line up with the lash lines. Sometimes hooded eyes appear more closed or smaller than they truly are. To open up your eyes, highlight the entire eyelid, taking care not to over-highlight underneath your brow bone, which can make your eyes appear even smaller. You want to draw attention toward the eye, not away from it. After highlighting the eyelid with a not-too-light color (perhaps an off-white, light tan, or light peach), smooth a medium shade (such as taupe, warm brown, or golden honey) along the lash line and just above the crease. With your eyes open, you should be able to see this color just above your lashes. Apply waterproof eyeliner right in the root of the upper lash line from underneath. Finish with mascara, starting right at the roots of the lashes and pulling through. Putting the weight of the mascara at the base of the lash forces them to curl.

Blush

To brighten your face, select a cheek color that is natural and neutral—perhaps a soft peachy-pink. Apply to the apples of the cheek—the prominent, rounded part—in short, downward strokes and blend back towards the nub of your ear. Remember, the goal isn't to shape your face by carving out cheekbones, but to brighten your face with a beautiful color that complements your olive skin. Seek out colors that imitate your natural blush.

Lips

For that gorgeous smile, use neutral colors that complement your olive skin tone. Colors with a hint of warm tawny—think peach, apricot, light bronze, reds, browns, and berries—work well. If you need a lip liner, choose one that matches your natural lip tone or the lipstick of your choice.
