WOMEN
Real Women:
• Always start with a yellow-based concealer and foundation. Match skin by looking at jaw line and neck in natural light. (Test on face not on hands or wrist)
• Make sure eyebrows have a natural shape to frame your eye.
• Finish lips with a lip liner or gloss so lips look natural and dimensional. (lip color first, liner second so if eat or drink you're not left with just liner)
• Eyelashes should never look like dry clumps on your eyes.
• Get intense eye color pay-off by using a true black mascara - instead of thickening additives.
Mature Woman:
• Add more color - think soft watercolor paints not an acrylic painting.
• A yellow tone concealer will make you look natural no matter what age.
• Eyebrows should be harmonized with your current hair color - not the color you used to have.
• Think complete – not coverage. The heavier the foundation the deeper lines will appear on your face.
• Navy blue eyeliner will give you a rested look that can't be achieved with black or brown.
MEN
Men’s Grooming Tips:
Masking the Face:
- This is to rid the skin of impurities, dead skin cells, and to hydrate the skin. This should be done once a week.
- Apply liberally and never let dry. Rinse in shower.
Exfoliate:
- This is to lift beard and to give a closer, softer shave. This should be done daily on beard area, and twice a week on the rest of the face.
Shaving:
- Use a cream or lotion shave product for the closest shave. Apply to a moist face with hot water to soften the beard. Shave downward, never against the grain. This will cause ingrown hairs.
Moisturize the Eye:
- Use cream around the eye top and bottom using both day and night will ensure keeping the eyes looking younger longer.
Moisturize the Face:
- Make sure you use moisturizer with a sunscreen to protect you from aging and burning rays. After you apply, your face should feel soft, not dry. If face feels dry, apply more or try a heavier solution.
TEENS
Teen Beauty Tips:
1. Take care of your skin! Wear a moisturizer with SPF 15 for everyday and an SPF 30 when doing outdoor activities.
2. Be sure to cleanse your skin well every night. It is more important to cleanse at night than in the morning.
3. If you are having significant problems with acne, don't waste your time and money on the wrong products; go to a dermatologist that specializes in teenage skin.
4. Keep your beauty regime simple. Mascara, lip gloss, blush, and concealer where needed are great basics and will always be appropriate.
5. When using eye shadow, blush and lip color, make sure that it is sheer formula. This will ensure that your own natural beauty shines through.
6. When trying to duplicate a celebrity's make-up remember to take it easy. Celebrities have professional make-up artists to apply their make-up and touch them up all day.
7. Now is the time to have fun with your make-up. Just make sure that your make-up doesn't cover you up and that you use a light hand when applying the latest trends of the season.
BRIDES
8 Tips all Brides should know!
1. Never try anything trendy, classic and up to date make-up is always the best way to go.
2. Do not use a tanning bed any closer than two weeks before the wedding day.
3. Make sure all waxing and hair removal is done two weeks before the wedding, wax burnt skin will always show up in your pictures.
4. The make-up that you wear on your wedding will always have to be an evening application due to photography lights washing you out.
5. Waterproof your special day. Tears should be clear, not a color.
6. Keeping yourself nourished and hydrated is always a good idea. Because when you feel good, you look good.
7. A facial before the special day sounds great, but if you have been doing them for only a little while or it is your first time, do not be aggressive. You don't want to be breaking out like you are thirteen again.
8. Last but not least, if your make-up artist is not contracted to stay for the entire celebration, you must keep with you a powder puff, lip stick that you are wearing and always concealer (for when the tears flow!). Who keeps track of all these items if there is no make-up artist there?... THE MAID OF HONOR.
LOOKS THAT BEAT THE SUMMER HEAT!
The heat and humidity of summer can make it difficult to stick to your normal beauty routine. Women are always asking me what they can do to keep looking fresh as temperatures rise.
1. How do I keep my make-up looking fresh all day?
hink waterproof. Many lines have worked to develop products that stay on all day. Water-resistant and waterproof products are becoming the norm, rather than the exception, without sacrificing color or natural looks.
2. How can I get an even face tone without using heavy foundation?
Go light. You might think you need a heavy foundation in summer but you don't. If you do need something to even out variations in skin tone, try a tinted moisturizer. Also, look for products that have a minimum 8 SPF, for added protection while out in the sunlight.
TANNING
5 Tips about sunless tanning:
1. Exfoliate your skin well before the application. The active ingredients react to dead skin cells, so to give you a more even and natural tan exfoliating your skin helps even it all out.
2. Always apply to clean skin. This ensures the product is being applied to your skin and not anything else. You want the product to react to you not the dirt on you.
3. Drink lots of water. Hydrating yourself by drinking water will show through your skin. If you are hydrated, your skin will be too. (At least one ounce of water for every pound you weigh everyday!)
4. Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize. The more hydrating lotion you aply the longer your sunless tan will last. Especially apply extra to your hands and feet. These are the driest areas, and without a lot of lotion they may appear cracked.
5. No sweating, working out, or showering for at least 6 hours after the application. The best time to apply is at night. This way you won't feel the need to wash yourself, or workout to let yourself sweat. Make sure you wear loose clothing, and the product should wash out if it gets on your clothes or on your sheets.
